Under Pressure

It's actually something we haven't had for sometime...in the shower that is. We knew when we moved in that the waterheater was on its way out. But it has lasted us three years. Until this month when the hot water and the pressure became a small trickle. And in the winter...you want a hot shower, not this trickle business. Finally yesterday Scott with a little help from sister's man, installed a new waterheater. It is glorious. So much water, so much heat!

the never ending joys of owning an old house!

  • Our water pressure is poor too, it's the galvanized pipe to our water main that is mostly clogged. We hope to replace it this summer.

  • We corrected two wrongs this weekend. First, replacing the 40 gallon tank that had that telltale death knell of water heaters - the ring of rust and slight leakage around the bottom with an 80 gallon tank, and also removing the two foot length of galvanized that connected the tank to the PVC piping. The galvanized was chocked with rust that you couldn't pass a pencil through the 1" pipe - probably what helped to send the tank to an early grave.

  • All I can say is this: whoever decided to get David Bowie and Freddie Mercury together was a fricking genius.
